In response to the Pharisees question about divorce the Lord Jesus replied, “But at the beginning of creation God “made them male and female” 7 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife 8 and the two will become one flesh.” So they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” (Mark 10: 6-9) From creation God’s design for humanity starts with the basic family unit of a husband and wife. Additionally, in Ephesians 5: 21-33 Paul teaches how the relationship between husband and wife mirrors the Lord’s relationship with His church and our relationship with Him.

We live in a society which has very different views on what constitutes a family. Among believers whilst always extending grace and mercy to all, it is also important to understand what God’s Word teaches us on God’s purpose for families, so that we are living by His ways. Therefore, we’ll explore this theme by considering families from Scripture to learn godly ways to practice and ungodly sins to avoid. As we study through this pastorally sensitive matter, please do speak to me in confidence if you’d like to discuss and pray through any matters.
