For persecuted Jewish background Christians, who were tempted to return to Judaism, Barnabas repeatedly emphasizes all the ways in which the Lord Jesus is the Best. He is:

1) The best revelation of God, superior to all prophets and angelic beings.

2) The best revelation of Humanity. He is superior to Moses, since He is the Son over God’s house.

3) The best source of true Sabbath-rest, superior to the rest Joshua gave the Israelites.

4) The best great high priest, superior to the Levitical priesthood.

5). God’s promise to us in Christ, is the best source of true hope, which keeps us firm and secure hope, in all of life’s situations.

There are serious consequences to turning away from God’s best, so, Barnabas gave the following warnings:

(1) Pay careful attention, so you don’t drift away.

(2) Don’t develop a sinful unbelieving heart.

(3) Don’t fall away from God.

Since, the priesthood of Christ is so vital to our faith, almost half of Hebrews is devoted to this subject, which we’ll explore further in the period up to Easter.
