The Lord Jesus is the Best ~ Be the Best for the Lord Jesus
In our study of Hebrews, we learnt of the ways in which the Lord Jesus is the best, and we noted that we were not looking at the gospels, the other letters, or all parts of the Old Testament, which reveal many other ways in which the Lord is the best. It is His infinite, perfect love for us, which leads Him to be the best for us. Our only appropriate loving response to the Lord is to be the best for Him. We should never settle for being good enough for the Lord. In Philippians 3: 10-14, the apostle Paul, tells us that he wants to know the Lord Jesus and participate in His experiences in every way, saying in vs. 12-14 “12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead, 14 I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus.”
The book of Proverbs offers us practical life lessons on how we can press on, straining towards being the best for the Lord Jesus. When we start this series, we’ll have read most of Proverbs, but please do read the relevant sections for each week. We’ll initially study chapters 1-9. I would greatly value your prayers as I seek God’s guidance for what He wants us to learn and how He wants us to live for His glory.
Thankyou&GodBless, Kumar
